The People’s Game 2014: Episode 1
Our inaugural show for 2014 features radical sports journalist Dave Zirin discussing the politics surrounded the tournament in Brazil; plus a report on the on-going protests in Brazil from labor organizer and filmmaker Ian Steinman in Brazil. We also hear from Pablo Miralles, the filmmaker behind Gringos at the Gate about the USA-Mexico soccer rivalry. Pablo reports from Shanghai, which is gripped with World Cup fever. Performance artist Karen Anzoategui talks about her show Ser!, growing up in Argentina as a queer woman who loved soccer, and the prospects for Leo Messi to fulfill his destiny as Diegolito did in 1986. We also hear from a very excited Fernando Romero, who is heading to Brazil to see Mexico play in person.
